Do you have an ugly basement?  Think there’s no decorating hope down there?  Think again.  Here is a “before” shot of designer Annie’s Selke’s basement.

The following photographs are “befores” of some of my client’s homes.  All of my clients are wonderful and talented people – but everyone needs a little help to make the sign in the front yard go from “For Sale” to “Sold.”  Names are withheld to protect the innocent and the unstaged.  

We’ve all got them – tons of family pictures in boxes or, in my case, still housed on the computer.  Sometimes a little inspiration is all you need to start displaying those treasured photos.  An easy way to start is by spray-painting a bunch of frames the same color.  White and black are classic, but how about red, green, or yellow?

Imperial trellis – I’ve been loving this trend for some time now.  You’ve all seen it, but I bet most of you didn’t know what to call it.  Aren’t you glad I’m here to do all the research for you?  The trellis pattern was really popular in the 1970′s – but this rendition has an Asian flair.

Do you want your space to feel calming and balanced?  If you do, it’s important to introduce a sense of symmetry in the room.  People who enter a room that is arranged in a symmetrical manner will often describe it as peaceful.  And who isn’t looking to create that kind of feeling in their home?
